Elgisard relayed all this to the group at the round table. Coming out of a fifteen-year-old boy's mouth, it sounded even more surreal. He had never told anyone of his last death. Ariana sat with him. She didn't speak, just laid her head on his shoulder and squeezed his arm.

“I looked it up,” said Lucas, “he covered up my death with the 1964 earthquake in Alaska. Just to cover his tracks.”

“I've never heard of that one,” said Julien.

Lucas said, “Big one. 9.5 magnitude. Killed lots of people and even moved the shoreline. Caused tsunamis up to 200 feet high. It must have been awful. But I was already dead. Didn't feel any of that.”

Katie stared at Lucas. “Do you have a lot of memories like that?”

“Yeah. It's been kinda overwhelming,” Lucas said. “I've learned so much from him. Everything hasn't come through yet, not all the memories of his lives. But I'm already not sure where he ends and I begin.”

Julien asked. “How did you come back?”

“Maybe Caron lied about killing you with a relic,” said John, still eating.

“From the German's face when he saw me come back, he believed it,” said Lucas.

“And now, you are here.” said John. “In the same place five new and old warriors reveal themselves? It's too much coincidence, even for the River.”

“Maybe the River is changing.” said Ariana, pulling away from Lucas. Lucas noticed, but said nothing.

“How?” asked Julien.

Katie looked to the sky and hit the table. “You're supposed to tell us!”

Ariana stood next to Katie. “Exactly. You're the adults. You're also super old ancient warrior people that are supposed to tell us what is happening. And you ask us? No, enough. What did that guy at the riverbed say? The Elders want us to Dissemble. Was that it?”

“You can't!” said John.

“The hell I can't,” Ariana stood.

“Ari! Language,” said Katie.

“Oh shut up,” Ariana said. “I don't want this. I never did. I can barely control it. The voices are coming back. I'm starting to feel other people's thoughts again. Anybody else?”

“Me too,” confirmed Katie.

“Yeah,” said Lucas.

Zacke didn't acknowledge their response. “It's worse now. You…” he pointed to Lucas, “You're thinking about old battles as the Viking. And a lot about sex.”

“Hey!” shouted Lucas, but the Viking gave a wry smile. Lucas shot a glance to Ariana, who looked uncomfortable.

Zacke turned to Ariana. “And you like Lucas but are freaked out by the Viking. You guys should talk to each other about that.”

Ariana didn't respond. She looked to Lucas. He looked away.

“You are worried about your sister, but more about crazy ancient thoughts like Lucas.” He looked at Katie closer, “And, yes I do know about Victoria. Were any of you going to tell me she'd been here? That she is Sect?”

“Hey! Stay out of my head, fly boy,” said Katie, standing.

“I think we should all…” began Julien, but Zacke cut him off.

Zacke pointed at Julien, “You are trying to figure out how to get the relics back.” He looked around at all of them. “And not one of you is thinking about Cody right now.
